Since I turned 50 last year, and lost my mom and four other family members, in addition to losing friends who have moved out of the country, I’ve been focusing on my mental health. When trying to think of a clever name for this here blog, I kept coming back to 50, midlife, meltdowns, mental health, madness and mortality. Life has become unfamiliar in so many ways that I knew if I started writing again, most of my ramblings would be about that. I think “mayhem” sums it up perfectly. Thank you to my hubby for the suggestion – one reason why I keep him around.
As many of you know, if you came here from Facebook, my mama died in May of last year so I’ll be traveling to West Virginia this week to spread mom and dad’s ashes. And I figured since I’m already flying and dealing with the airport, I might as well just visit everyone that I haven’t seen in way too many years, so I’ll be hitting Florida and Texas as well. I’m calling it my US Tour – The Scattering.
You’ll see the Instagram icon and RSS feed icon above my pic and profile on the right side of the page. This site will mostly be writing, so pics and quips will be on Instagram. My account is set to private, so feel free to request to follow, or whatever the cool kids call it, if you’d like to follow me on tour. The RSS feed will notify you when I post here. I’m slowly giving up Facebook; the content doesn’t make me happy anymore, and adds to my already anxiety-riddled brain. But I still like to share my life with family and friends, so I can’t quit the socials completely. Again, focusing on my mental health the best ways I know how. Which now includes puzzles – what the hell is happening to me?
